Debut of first Edition hotel in Singapore and Southeast Asia

The Singapore Edition hotel soft opened its doors on Nov 9, managed by the world’s largest hotel chain, Marriott, with their luxury lifestyle brand, Edition. Conceived in partnership with American hotelier and real estate mogul Ian Schrager, the 204-room hotel spans across six floors. It stands atop a mixed-use development with a double frontage along Orchard Boulevard and Cuscaden Road in prime District 10 of the city-state.

The hotel redevelopment was led by a consortium comprising Singapore tycoon Kwek Leng Beng’s Hong Leong Holdings, Singapore-listed property group, City Developments Ltd (CDL) and Schrager’s Lea Investments with Singapore-based Moshe Safdie of Safdie Architects and DP Architects providing the architectural styling. Known for iconic landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands and Jewel Changi Airport, Safdie is now responsible for this luxurious project.

Schrager and Hong Kong-based interior design firm Cap Atelier have masterminded the interiors of the hotel. From the white-marbled lobby with a gold leaf-covered domed ceiling to the 872 sq ft boardroom, the hotel oozes grandeur.

A hotel experience isn’t complete without fine food allure. Celebrated Australian chef Josh Niland’s Fysh restaurant, his first international offering, showcases an 80-seater main dining room and 22-seater indoor conservatory as well as an outdoor pergola that can accommodate 44 diners. The menu is seafood-focused, offering locally-inspired dishes featuring the best of Australia. Guests can enjoy pre-dinner drinks at the signature Punch Room bar, adjacent to the restaurant.

The high-end lifestyle experience continues with the 154-unit luxury residences, Boulevard 88 that soars 28 storeys above the hotel block. Further amenities include a spa with seven treatment rooms, his and hers changing suites, sunken vitality thermal pools, an ice fountain, a relaxation lounge, a sauna and a steam room. A gym with high-performance weights and exercise equipment is also available for the health-conscious.

The rooftop bar features a 43m swimming pool with a landscaped garden and a transparent acrylic oculus that allows swimmers a view of the courtyard garden nine floors below. During the soft opening, room rates start from $680+++ a night.

Boulevard 88 is now over 90% sold, based on caveats lodged, at an average price of $3,814 psf. The biggest penthouse at 6,049 sq ft was sold for $31 million or $5,125 psf in June 2019, setting a new high for the development on an absolute and psf price basis.
