James Peter, manager of Baden—one of the few bars in the district with a license to serve alcohol till late—is taking a cautious approach. “We’ve seen a small rise in sales. But, not many people are aware that there are now several new parking lots, including the Holland Drive Residences,” he says.

When it rains, the situation worsens, according to Stanley. He believes that Wala Wala has seen fewer people, likely due to the lack of live music. With Holland Drive Residences, this could all change, as it’s conveniently located in the heart of Holland Village, offering easy access to many amenities.

Rai states that the high rental costs, lack of patrons and restrictions on outdoor seating made it unsustainable to keep Holland Drive Residences running. Although he acknowledges it must have been hard for its owner Stanley Yeo to make the difficult decision, he praises him for trying to hold on.

Many stalls in the market have closed down as well, which is an added factor that has had a significant impact on our enterprise. Holland Drive Residences is one example of a marketplace that has seen a lot of closures lately, but there are still some vendors who remain open. Despite the current conditions, there has been an effort to keep some of the market alive and cater to those who still need the goods and services provided there.

The prospects of improved traffic conditions in Holland Village is met with anticipation by its tenants, thanks to the new car park at One Holland Village and its almost double the number of car park lots. Stanley expresses his hope that the new development will bring the area’s traffic back to its former levels. Once they heard about One Holland Village, the couple immediately set their sights on it. They especially appreciate the fact that the building is pet-friendly, which helps to make their daily grind more enjoyable. “It always brings a smile to our faces to see all the different adorable dogs strolling around when we’re making coffee,” the couple shared, laughing. The Holland Drive Residences at One Holland Village provide them with a tranquil and convenient place to call home.

The vibrant, diverse environment of Holland Village Food Centre has been providing residents of the Holland Drive Residences neighbourhood with memories for over half a century. From after-dinner treats at the corner shop to nostalgic dinners at Foster’s Steakhouse, this plaza has been providing locals with food, entertainment and more. Sadly, after 50 plus years in business, Foster’s Steakhouse closed its doors in 2022. Thankfully, Holland Village Food Centre and the surrounding area remain a source of fond memories for those lucky enough to have visited this iconic spot.
