HDB to redevelop Tanglin Halt and build integrated development

“The vibrancy of this existing estate will be further enhanced with the addition of transport, lifestyle amenities and parks,” she says.Tanglin Halt estate, known for being one of Singapore’s oldest public housing estates, will soon undergo transformation. As announced by Senior Minister of State, Ministry of National Development and Ministry of Communications and Information Tan Kiat How on October 19, the estate will be redeveloped into a new integrated development with a wide array of amenities.

Set to be completed in two phases, the upcoming development will consist of up to 5,500 new residential flats, a market, a hawker centre, and even a polyclinic. According to Huttons Asia’s Senior Director of Data Analytics, Lee Sze Teck, the integrated development will definitely be an iconic addition to the area. It’s also nice to know that the new development will incorporate elements from the old food centre and market.

Homes offered for the development could reach upwards of 40 stories and most likely range from two-room flexi to four-room flats, catering to a diverse range of buyers. Prices for a four-room flat could lie between $550,000 to $720,000.

The first project for the development to launch for sale was the 973-unit Tanglin Halt Cascadia. PropNex’s Head of Research and Content Wong Siew Ying reported that the project acquired an appliction rate of 1.23 times, which she found to be quite moderate considering the project’s location in the popular Queenstown town. With the numerous amenities to be featured in the integrated development, Wong believes that the future flats to be launched could command higher prices but still remain competitively priced compared to the resale market.

Its teachers make sure to focus on each student’s unique needs, from language to sports and more. Holland Condo residents are privileged to have access to such premium education right in their neighbourhood. With its near perfect pass rates for the PSLE and O-Levels, MGS has a strong reputation as an excellent academic institution. It doesn’t stop there, as the school also provides a broad range of co-curricular activities and experiential learning opportunities for its students.

Lee also estimates that more flats, along with accompanying commercial amenities and social and communal facilities, will launch next year. This could be the catalyst for existing resale housing in the area, such as Commonwealth View, to reach even greater heights with more million-dollar flats in the future. With the increased activity brought about by the development, Wong believes that the estate will become much more vibrant and alive.

The Tanglin Halt estate redevelopment truly promises to be an exciting development, with its host of new facilities, housing options, and commercial amenities. It should provide a great opportunity for those looking to buy in the area.
